A little piece of Cayman’s History!
The Cayman Islands was discovered by Christopher Columbus on
May 10, 1503. Cayman has 2 other small
sister islands (Cayman Brac and Little Cayman) and they were first named Las Tortugas after the numerous Sea Turtles seen swimming in the
surrounding waters. By 1530 the Islands names were changed from Las Tortugas
to the Caymanes after the Carib word caimán for the
marine crocodile.
