Instead of trying to fix or change things that we are doing wrong, why not focus on your dreams and objectives for the year? It's fine to say "I need to lose weight so I am going to stop eating carbs", but we all know that these 'resolutions' are often short-lived. Therefore, it might be more useful and meaningful to instead create attainable goals for ourselves and try become who we want to be.
According to psychologist Timothy Pychyl (in his article "Teenagers, Identity Crises and Procrastination") "until we have a vision of who we are and who we want to become, we can't accomplish much."
Your resolutions may also give you insight into what your long-term goals and objectives are for the coming year, so you can use them to set you on the right path. And this way, you're more likely to stick with your plans.
What are your dreams and goals for 2013?
