SteppingStones is honoured to support the Big Brothers Big Sisters
organisation of the Cayman Islands by donating to the cause.
As the organization was founded over
105 years ago in New York by Court Clarke, has 550,000 plus volunteers in the
USA alone as well as being well established in over 38 different countries
around the world, SteppingStones was keen to assist to support such a
heart-felt charity. Big Brothers Big Sisters Cayman Islands was founded in
Grand Cayman in the mid 1980s by Rev. Stanwyck Myles and others. It proudly
distinguishes itself as a not for profit organization that depends solely on
sponsorship and fund raising events so every donation counts!
Their website: www.bbbs.ky details how
their mission is provide “a one-on-one friendship with a caring adult can
provide the support a child needs to grow and mature in a positive way. Since
1984, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Cayman Islands (BBBS) has helped children
to reach their potential through professionally supported one-on-one
relationships with mentors. US based research proved that children in the BBBS
mentoring programme are 46% less likely to use drugs, 27% less likely to begin
using alcohol, 53% less likely to skip school, and 33% less likely to get into
fights.”
SteppingStones is more than happy to be providing support to such a
life-changing organization. Julissa Castillo and Craig Smith, members of the Executive Committee of
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Cayman Islands.
