- Pack a healthy lunch and snack. Instead of hitting the local fast food restaurant, try taking your lunch to work. There are many healthy options when it comes to a packed lunch and snack. Skip the afternoon bag of chips and substitute with an apple with peanut butter or some carrots with hummus.
- Walk the stairs. Walking a couple flights of stairs may not seem like much, but over a year it can really add up. If, for example, you work on the second floor and chose to walk one flight of stairs each working day, this would equal almost 7,300 steps a year! And you will probably be the first to reach the second floor while your co-workers wait for the elevator.
- Take a quick mid-day break. Stand up, stretch and take a short walk to get the blood flowing again. Some activity will give you a new burst of energy to help you through the rest of the day.
- Drink water. Water, water, water. The benefits of drinking water cannot be emphasized enough. Make sure you stay hydrated throughout the day. Avoid bringing a soda to work with you…if it isn’t there, you won’t drink it.
